SALEM TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — An SUV traveling the wrong way on a southeastern Michigan highway crashed into another vehicle during the morning rush Wednesday, killing three people, state police said.
A Nissan Rogue was traveling west on the eastbound side of M-14 when the driver tried to leave the busy freeway by using an entrance ramp.
The Rogue crashed into a Tesla that was attempting to enter M-14 in Washtenaw County, police said.
The 53-year-old Tesla driver and a 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman in the Rogue were killed.
“The collision did cause the Tesla to catch fire. ... It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash,” police said.
